How Long Does Marijuana Stay In The System During Pregnancy?
Question: How long does marijuana stay in the system while pregnant? I just found out I'm 18 weeks. And do doctors drug test for marijuana in Indiana? I don't want them too take my baby away.

Marijuana or cannabis is the most common drug abuse among youth. There are some facts which need to be considered by you as you have become pregnant and is 18 weeks pregnant already.
More than 65% of cannabis is excreted in the feces and approximately 20% is excreted in urine .Most of the cannabis (80-90%) is excreted within 5 days as hydroxylated and carboxylated metabolites. It can be easily detected in urine sample or through immunoassays. Cannabis has a long half-life in humans (67 days).
The effects of marijuana use during pregnancy is more neurological than structural. It does't cause any structural deformities in foetuses of exposed mothers but in some babies born to women who used marijuana during their pregnancies respond differently to visual stimuli, tremble more, and have a high-pitched cry, which could indicate problems with neurological development. In school, children prenatally exposed to marijuana are more likely to show gaps in problem-solving skills, memory, and the ability to remain attentive.
So as seen, the effect is on brain development prenatally and post fatally. So if you are considering visit to your doctor, you must apprise them of your marijuana intake so that accordingly interventions can be planned like level 2 scan and if required amniocentesis to check levels in amniotic fluid , and further counselling can be offered regarding chances of future neurodevelopmental lags during growth phase of the child.The diction would be yours completely.
