Question: My son broke his collar bone during P.E. and had to have a plate and 6 screws put in. How soon should he be using this arm? And what is the recovery time?

Brief Answer: Overhead activities at 6-7 weeks Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for your query. He can do overhead activities at 6-7 weeks after surgery. It will take 12 weeks to return to full sports including contact sports if radiographs did not reveal any abnormalities and clinical exam remained normal with full recovery of strength.
