Question: How long does it take for a bump on the head to go away my 8 year old hit his head wrestling at a friends about 3 weeks ago. It was the back top of his head and he hit the tv stand and tonight he says this bump itchs I asked what bump and he showed me. It's not very big it's hard it doesn't hurt and he never lost conciousness or anything he cried a minute my neighbor said and the went back to playing I thought nothing of it for weeks he's played two football games sense and kid really active no issues or complaints

The hard lump that you are noticing at the site of injury is likely due to the formation of fibroid (scar) tissue.

This occurs as part of the body's inflammatory response to trauma. After the initial trauma there may be slight or major swelling.
As healing continues , lump may form.

These fibroid/scar areas are not usually painful and do not indicate that there is any problem present.

It would continue to remodel and get smaller with time. In some cases this can sometimes take a few months
