Knee effusion can be due to injury or inflammatory causes. Usually aspiration of the fluid is done and sent for examination to know the cause. Antibiotic therapy is needed only in case there is infection.
The first line of treatment is anti inflammatory drugs and steroids- both local injections and systemic are given.
You can consult an orthopedician for a proper treatment.
