Brief Answer:
There is no risk for HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in "Ask a Doctor".
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Based on your history, having just protected sexual intercourse you shouldn't worry because there is no risk for HIV.
Having a negative result of HIV PCR test is a good news but there is no need for other test in your situation.

Hope I have answered your query.
Feel free to ask me further.

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX thanks for your answer. I’m just worried about the coincidence of some symptoms or it just anxiety.

For example, over the past 6 weeks since exposure, I’ve had like a week of hot flashes. I assumed it is anxiety as it went away once I got the test result but came back again when I texted you. I also had 2 cold sores on lips, don’t know if related or not. And also had a few days of sore throat, though ENT dr said because of something called candida that I had from before.

On the test, is this PCR conclusive after 27 days and OK. I know you mentioned no need to retest but confirming the same.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
These symptoms are not related to HIV (ARS).

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in "Ask a Doctor".
I am sorry for my late response.

As I sad before, having just protected sexual intercourse, you shouldn't worry because there is absolutly no risk for HIV.
Furthermore, based on this about the symptoms you mentioned above I think are not related to HIV(ARS).
PCR for HIV after 27 days in your situation is conclusive.
Usually in the risky situations ( but not you!) it is recommended to do a 4 th generation HIV test after 3 months from exposure as a conclusive test.

Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.
