Brief Answer:
HYPERKALEMIA

Detailed Answer:
Hi....
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor"service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

The fine balance of electrolytes (sodium, potassium and chlorides) is managed by kidneys.
A background of hypertension and a deranged electrolytes may point to an existing renal dysfunction which should be ruled out by renal function tests, urine examination and ultrasound.
You have already excluded diabetes as pre-existing disease.

To reduce potassium and chloride levels, she should keep herself well hydrated, avoid certain drugs like antacids, avoid salt substitutes and avoid some foods that are high in potassium which include banana, citrus fruits, nuts, beans, coconut water, milk and potatoes.

There are many medications that are used by doctors to lower down the potassium levels like
1.Sodium bicarbonate.
2.Loop diuretics like furesemide.
3.Calcium gluconate.
4.Salbutamol.
5.Insulin and glucose solutions.
6.There are certain pectins available commercially which bind with potassium in gut and prevents it's absorption.

It is better that these drugs are taken and electrolyte management is done under the clinical supervision of a qualified consultant.
I request you to kindly see a nephrologist who would tailor a treatment protocol according to her clinical examination and lab reports.
A nutritionist would help you to make a relevant diet plan.

Hope that I have answered your query. If you have any doubts, please let me know.

Stay healthy and stay blessed.
Regards.
