Detailed Answer:
Hi, Buchannagari,
Welcome to Ask A Doctor service
I'm Dr Aslam, Pediatrician here to help you.

For getting a more clear picture, kindly give me few more details:

1. Is he having any fever?
2. What is the nature of nasal discharge- clear and watery, or thick and yellowish?
3. How the cough sounds- dry or wet(ie. feels like lot of phlegm inside)
4. Any breathing difficulty/fast breathing(count number of breaths/minute if possible)?
5. Is he otherwise active, playful and feeding well?
6. Any past history of wheezing or hospital admission?

Cold and cough in children is mostly caused by viruses, and need only symptomatic treatment with nasal decongestants and antihistamines. Antibiotics are needed only in a fraction of cases.

Kindly get back with details, so that I can guide you better
Thank you
