Question: Hi. I went to the doctor yesterday for a physical. I was having anxiety as I have not been to the doctor for a physical since covid. My heart was racing due to the anxiety. They did a standard ekg which has always been normal as I am 40 and it came back with a slight abnormality of Tachycardia which showed an elevated heart beat.
He wasn’t concerned as it wasn’t very abnormal but said it was likely bc I was anxious. He then did a test where I walk for 6 minutes hooked up to a machine and it monitors my vitals and it was completely normal. Should I be concerned ?

Brief Answer:
Tachycardia caused by anxiety, no need to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I don't think that you should be concerned.
I see the photo you attached and sinus tachycardia is seen.
Most probably it is caused by anxiety.
Taking anxiety drugs may help you relieve anxiety symptoms and tachycardia too.
You may also take beta blockers like atenolol for rapid heart beat.

Hope I have answered the question.

Thank you very much. Also I had a test where I put my finger in a machine and walked for 6 minutes briskly- that was all normal. Is that a good sign? Thank you again!

Of course it is a good sign.

Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
The test you did is stress test and if it is normal of course it is a good sign that you don't have heart issues.
