Question: Hi,

I returned from Belize 24 days ago.

While there I had episode of very low pulse(29-36) for 12 hours. Three IV bags from village doctor.

I also had horrible travelers' diarrhea that lasted 5 days after trip. Treated with antibiotics here.

My left eye starting itching 2 days after returning and now I have a chalazion on upper left eyelid.

My back and now upper leg and upper arms have itched for 2 weeks and it seems to be worsening. Small insect-like bumps are on my back and leg and when scratched to removal they HURT.

Thank you for your help!!

Brief Answer:
Require further evaluation. Follow up with images and detailed history.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, there can be several causes for itching which should get evaluated. Kindly upload images so I will get better idea and follow up with a bit more information.

Please let me know do you have fever, sore throat, fluid filled bumps?
Do you have allergy to any foods or medications?

In that case you may require detailed medical examination and evaluation including blood work up and antibiotics after Dermatologist opinion to rule out any other possibilities.

Treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition. Till then for itching you can tab loratidine 10 mg once a day. Kindly avoid scratching.

For chalazion, do warm compresses with clean washcloth 3 to 4 times a day. Avoid Squeezing. For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen. It will take around 1 to 2 weeks to resolve.

In case of red eyes, eye discharge you may require antibiotic eye drops after ophthalmologist consultation. Avoid repeated eye touching.

Hope I have answered your query and let me know if I can assist you further.... Thank you.

Regards,
Dr Shyam Kale
