Question: Hi, I have a brain mri on October 28 to check for any abnormalities after a back surgery incidentally uncovered a lesion on my spine. The lesion is still there and will be dealt with. On November 7 I had 5 separate siezures. I have never had siezures before. Since then I have had several more. I met with a neurologist today who said it wasn't physical because the brain mri from before the siezure was clear. My question here is would a brain mri reflect differently now, after siezures? Thank you

Brief Answer:
The MRI was with or without contrast?

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor " service.

I have read your query.

If the first MRI was done with intravenous contrast enhancement, I think that for now is not necessary to have another brain MRI.

If the MRI was done without contrast, in my opinion it is necessary to have another MRI with contrast ( gadolinium ) in order to evaluate any possible small lesions that may be responsible for the seizures.

Discuss with the Neurologist for these issues.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
