Question: Hi, I am having some problem near the inner side edges of my nose. Please take a look at the attached photos. It is getting very dry in that place and sometimes the skin peels from that area. I thought it Is just a come and go kind of a problem but its been more than 6 months since I am facing this. I just want to make sure it doesn't aggravate.

Brief Answer:
Regarding red, scaly patches on inner nasal margin.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have read your query and viewed the image.

I can see red, scaly patches on inner nasal margin. This most likely is either Seborrheic Dermatitis Or Psoriatic patches. I suggest you use a topical moderately potent steroid ointment i.e fluticasone propionate 0.05% and Mupirocin 2% combination (Flutibact ointment), twice daily for a few days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance

1. Are there any side effects on using Flutibact ointment if infact this is not one of the 2 (Seborrheic Dermatitis Or Psoriatic patches).
2. Is there any chance for this to be contagious to other skin adjacent to it? Right now it did not get contagious from 6 months that i had though.
3. In how many days can i see this getting healed and completely go away?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Regarding red scaly patch at rim of nostrils.

Detailed Answer:
hi.

Fluticasone propionate 0.05% is a very safe medication. I advice you to use it twice daily for 10days to 2 weeks and then follow up. None of these conditions is contagious to others though it may affect other body areas similarly.

Take care.
