Question: Hi I am a 44 year old female. For the past year or so I have been experiencing bouts of bacterial vaginosis. I have been on three rounds of antibiotics but the discomfort primarily burning often returns. For the past week or so I have been experiencing a familiar burning sensation which leads me to believe its back. It seems to creep up right before my period. My question is are there natural ways to remedy the imbalance I do not like taking so many antibiotics.

Brief Answer:
It can be a urinary infection also.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concerns.

Having treatment for bacterial vaginosis without being relieved of burning is distressing. The recurrent burning may be related to urinary infection or urinary calculus that can be ruled out after a urine test and an ultrasound scan.

Regarding the treatment, you can do the following things-

1. Avoid irritation of the genital organs caused by various factors such as dirt, soiled undergarments, intestinal worms and excessive mental stimulation of sex or masturbation.

2. One of the things you can add to your daily diet to treat this is a banana that is dipped in clarified butter or ghee. This should be eaten with breakfast and lunch.

3. Increase your intake of cranberry juice. This juice has quite a number of properties that are good for women and drinking this juice helps with the treatment of vaginal infections.

You can use a vaginal pessary like Gyno Daktarin once a day for 2 weeks. Please follow the instructions on the package carefully.

Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow-up queries that you have.

Wishing you good health.
Regards.
