Brief Answer:
Depends on the colour and frequency of her urine

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for using the Ask a Doctor service.

We get about 20 percent of our fluid requirements from foods. So it is not necessary for children of this age to take several glasses of water daily. A good rule of thumb is to offer milk with meals and water at most other times for thirst. This is to ensure that she gets enough calcium as well as fluids in general. Whether her water intake is enough can be made out from the frequency and colour of her urine. If the urine is pale yellow and she passes it at least 8 times in 24 hours, consider her fluid intake to be adequate.

Hello Doc
She takes in water and because she doesn't like the taste of it i guess, throws it out. Can i give Mishri (taal) to her .
She does drink fruit juice one time - 30 Ml, 60 ml of water, around 30 ml of Daal, and repeated breastfeed sessions - around 8 to 10 breastfeed sessions per day.

please advice me how i can make her drink wwater more without her throwing it out.

Brief Answer:
Feel free to give ORS

Detailed Answer:
Sorry for the inadvertent delay in responding. You are correct that she throws out the water because she does not like the taste. In fact the very reason water is given to a child between 6 months and 1 year of age is to get them accustomed to the taste. As of now, you can try giving ORS (oral rehydration solution) or mishri water.

Monitor her urine output. If it is proper you need not worry about devising ways to make her drink.
