Posted on Fri, 14 Apr 2023
Question: Hi Doctor, Please take a look at the attached pic. It's at the ankle joint. What started as scratch due to itch has tuned into a swollen wound with a bit of pus oozing out every now and then. One day a scratched a bit more than required due to itching. Sometimes it pains like hell and doesn't let me walk. Please prescribe accordingly. Thank you.

Brief Answer:

Important to see a doctor.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

There are clear signs of inflammation (redness and swelling) along with infection. I would like to know if you have history of diabetes? If you are not sure, it needs to be checked.

In this circumstance, it is important to see a doctor who will physically evaluate the wound. He/she will also send the pus sample for culture studies.

You may be then started on broad-spectrum antibiotic either Penicillin or third generation antibiotic.

In other words, I don't think the current condition is to be treated interaction on computers. It is best managed by face to face evaluation from a doctor. You can get back to me after the doctor visit.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Yes, sure doc. Also, I have no history of diabetes. Infact my recent reports indicate sugar levels to be well below 120.
