Hi Doctor, I Have An Important Question To Ask. I

Question: Hi Doctor,

I have an important question to ask. I have been bitten by a dog yesterday. I am going to many pharmacies to get anti-rabies vaccines but unable to get them. Finally, I have ordered them online. But, there, too, I am getting vaccines of different manufacturers. I am getting 2 vaccines of XPRAB, 2 of Berab and one of either Indirab or Rabivax-S. There is an acute shortage of the vaccine. I have read on WHO website that as much as possible, stick to a single manufacturer. But, in case, one doesn't get a single manufacturer, they can take vaccines of different manufacturers. Under no circumstances, the vaccination schedule should be changed.

So, WHO says that if there isn't an option, taking anti-rabies vaccines of different manufacturers is fine.

Please suggest what should I do. I have never been so scared in my life. This disease is a killer.

Brief Answer:
You can interchange the brands.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query,
You can switch the rabies vaccine brands as both of them contain same components. However it will be better to stick to one brand if possible.
Actually anti rabies vaccine available free of cost in most of the government hospital, you can visit a government sector hospital rather than a private clinic.
Anti rabies vaccine is very effective and now a days rabies is a rare disease.
Nothing much to worry and you will be alright.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks
