Question: Hello Dr. I am a 43 yo male generally in good health. Over the last 6 months I have been experiencing intermittent and mild discomfort in my upper left abdomen along with periodic glassiness. Periodically, I have been experiencing increased urgency when having bowel moments and I notice the color of the stool is brown, but having a yellowish hue. When wiping, I see a bit more yellow. I do not have diarrhea. Also at times, I feel bubbling though my GI tract with mild nausea and noticed it has begun to stimulate saliva production. Again, these symptoms are mild and seem to be transient, but I cannot find any related dietary pattern. Thank you for your time.

Brief Answer:
Probably irritable bowel syndrome

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

It looks like you are suffering from irritable bowel syndrome.
I'd suggest getting tested for Celiac disease if not done already and also get a stool analysis done.
You will get benefited by taking Librax and C.VSL #3.
You need to take a low FODMAP diet.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr.R.K.

Hello Dr Kini, thanks for your reply.

IBS in itself is not a diagnosis, rather a description of a group of symptoms. Can you suggest testing to get to the bottom of the root issue?

I recently had a stool sample test for parasites, ecoli, salmonella, and acids.. the tests were returned unremarkable.

Thanks.

Librax is a GI sedative.. perhaps that is too extreme?

I also researched CVSL#3, this product is discontinued. Would you please suggest another probiotic that you know to be effective?

Brief Answer:
Answer given below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
IBS is a functional disorder and the cause is not known. And there is no specific diagnostic tests for it. It is diagnosed based on the symptoms and ruling out other issues which mimic it. That is the reason why I suggested testing for Celiac and getting a stool analysis done. Good to know that the stool test was unremarkable.

Librax is not too extreme. It controls your symptom effectively.
If VSL #3 is not available, you can take Visbiome.

Regards,
Dr.R.K.
