Hello, A Blind Person Touched The Handle Of My Suitcase

Posted on Fri, 23 Nov 2018
Question: Hello,
A blind person touched the handle of my suitcase in the railway station. I then touched it immediatly afterwards. I might have touched my eyes or used my hands to eat until I got to wash them. Is there a risk I might lose my sight ? Is blindness contagious ? I am extremely anxious... Your answer would mean a lot to me. Thank you !

Thank you very much for your answer which brought great relief !
Since I suffer from an extremely severe form of anxiety, I sometimes need further and more detailed reassurance to help my rational brain understand that there is no danger.
If you have the time, would you be kind enough to give me a medical explanation as to why blindness isn't contagious ? My anxiety tends to lessen when I manage to give my mind objective proof that its fear is irrational...
Thank you, sir !

Brief Answer:
Non contagious.

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for getting back to me.
The rationale behind blindness being non contageous is that it is not on the surface,it is from inside .So blindness doesn't occur on the skin of hand.So a contact with skin will not cause blindness. In other words blindness has occurred due to disease of eye ,so will not be transferred by skin contact.
Do get back to me if you still have a issue remaining.
