Hello Dr. Perigela,
My sister is 800 miles away from me. She lives in Ohio in a facility for the Mentally Challenged. So I have not seen the wound. She sits in a wheelchair most of the day so I believe the wound has been caused from pressure. It is located on her buttocks and I do not have a picture of it. However, my other sister will go to the follow-up visit at the Wound Clinic in XXXXXXX and take a picture of it then on November 1. The Gentamicin is being used as a local application. Thank you so much for your help. Tonya Toole, Phd.

Brief Answer:
She might have developed Pressure Sore

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description,it looks like she has developed Pressure Sore.
If she is on bed,her position has to be changed frequently.
Airbed will help her
Even on Wheelchair, small Water pillow should be used.
As wound is already formed, dressing should be done regularly. If dark dead/necrotic tissue is present over the wound,it should be removed.
She should be shown to a wound specialist.
Antibiotic ointment should be applied only in presence of infection.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions,I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
