Brief Answer:
Can take hot teas in small amounts;monitor INR more often...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your question carefully and understood your concerns.

Drinking tea is not prohibited when taking coumadin. However, caution is required not to exceed the amount of tea per day.

It is true that taking too much green tea or cinnamon tea might affect your INR level, so, you should limit their intake. I also advise to regularly monitor your INR levels more often than usually if you consume large amounts of tea.

Moreover you can safely drink normal tea, chamomile tea, which can interfere less on INR levels than green tea.

Fruits, vegetables and foods high in antioxidants can serve to boost your immunity, but I also recommend not to take in large amounts.

Let me know if I can be of further help!

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

1. There is no specific diet to follow when taking coumadin. The idea is to avoid too much intake of vit k rich foods over the daily allowence.
Some of these foods include: XXXXXXX
Brussels sprouts
Spinach
Green tea
Collard greens
Parsley
Chard
Mustard greens

While on the other hand, there are foods and beverages that will increase the effect of coumadin including :
- cranberry juice
- garlic
- fish oil
- XXXXXXX
- turmeric

2. You can take peppermint and chamomile tea with caution without exceeding one cup a day.

3. Monitoring your INR once a week is good enough to evaluate your blood thinning properties.

All the best!
