Can Sexual Orientation Be Changed Through Treatment?

default
Posted on Mon, 15 Feb 2016
Question: This is a question regarding a woman I know. She has never been in love or had a boyfriend. I lived with her and noticed there was never an emotional investment from her side as far as our relationship. It was very robotic and any conversations were about her. She has told me she is Demi-sexual because she can't fall in love. Is there a particular condition that would describe this "behavior".

Brief Answer:
No technical term for it.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I have gone through your query.

There is no technical term or diagnosis for such kind of behavior.

It is more of a sexual orientation.
Just like, some people are heterosexual or homosexual or bisexual.

Demi-sexual is the one who does not involve in sexual relationship. If they do, they only get involved with those people with whom they are strongly emotionally attached.

As this is not a disorder, so there is no treatment for this too.

The reason could be unpleasant sexual experiences in past or genetic or biological influence.

Hope you find this information helpful.

Thanks.

The thing is, she does have sex and in fact a number of partners, however, they are only when she is drunk. Not sure why that would be.

Brief Answer:
Under the influence of alcohol.

Detailed Answer:
When she drunk, she is under the influence of alcohol.
This is the state when her mind is not under her full control.
Anyone can be manipulated in such state.
Probably, that is why she gets involved in sex with people.

Thanks.
