Posted on Thu, 8 Jun 2023
Question: Yes, thank you. I fell yesterday onto my knees (on carpet). Within an hour my right knee felt as if it had fluid around it. The knee is swollen and I have a large bruise on the inside extending about four inches up my leg. I have little or no pain but the area is warm to the touch.

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have gone through your query and understand your health concerns ,
Fluid around knee and swelling are due to some internal bleeding at the time of injury, you can do rest, ice, and pain relievers. You may take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as Aleve or ibuprofen. elevate your leg to help ease swelling. Apply ice for 15 to 20 minutes a few times per day.
You can take some antibiotics as area is warm and applied some compression bandage .
Kindly take care or any medical problem( diabetes) if you have any./

Thank you for your answer and concern. I assume no medical attention is necessary unless I develop serious pain or increased swelling?

Brief Answer:
This should subside on its own in few days.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The bruise and mild swelling is likely to reduce on its own with rest, icing and pain killers in a week. In case the pain or swelling increases then do consult an orthopedician for a direct examination.
Hope my answer is helpful.
