Question: Do older people usually get mono. After exposure, how long before it will affect you.

Adults and especially elderly patients do not usually get mono. Mono is a disease of children and young adults. Elderly don't get it because sometime in their life they had prior exposure and hence immunity. They may have what they thought was just a cold and developed antibodies to mono. I have never heard of any adult over the age of 30 getting mono. So to answer your question you have no worries about contracting mono
