Brief Answer:

Most of the metal knees used nowadays are not magnetic and MRI is safe.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

MRI has a very strong magnetic field.
Most of metal knee replacements are not magnetic.
They can be safe during the magnetic field of MRI.

But even if they are not magnetic they can influence the results of the MRI in the anatomic parts near the knee in your case.

So MRI, in this case, is not a preferable examination and it's done only if it is necessary. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
