Can Trazodone And Sertraline Be Taken Together?
Question: I have been taking 50 MG Trazodone daily for about three months. About a month ago they increased the Trazodone to 100 MG daily and added 150 MG Bupropion HCL XL daily. Then a couple of days ago they replaced the Bupropion with 25 MG Sertraline daily which I am supposed to increase to 50 MG after six days.
Before making the switch from Bupropion to Sertraline I did some online research and all three sites I checked said that Trazodone and Sertraline can have serious interactions. Not just minor. Major. I finally got a hold of my doctor today and told her I hadn't made the switch yet because of what I read online about the interactions. She said it is safe in those doses. What do you think.?

Brief Answer:
Its safe in this dose.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Trazodone and Sertraline if taken together in high dose then there is a risk of serotonin syndrome. But that doesn't mean that by taking Trazodone and Sertraline everyone will develop the symptoms.
You are on 100 mg Trazodone and taking Sertraline with this dose will not increase the risk of serious serotonin syndrome.
Just remain relaxed, its safe in these doses. We are using these drugs in a lot of patients and they are doing good.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
