Welcome to ask a doctor service,

I have gone through your query in detail and can certainly understand your concern towards your EKG changes.

But, usually citalopram doesn't cause any EKG changes as it doesn't have any cardiac side effects.

Ok. My recent ekg was just slightly abnormal but nothing to worry about. Dr. Said it was actually normal. It said one thing but he read it and everything is normal. Just wondering if the Citalopram could have effected it. I heard the SSRIs can affect the heart.

It can be scary seeing an ecg saying abnormal. Trying to calm down from that my anxiety is very high. But Dr. assured me it’s all normal.

Brief Answer:
So, nothing to worry, it must be normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back,

I can see from your follow up query that the interpretation of your EKG is absolutely normal.

So, nothing to worry, there is no proven evidence that citalopram would have cardiac side effects.

But other SSRI's might be.

Be assured, and don't get scared.

Thank you.
