Question: Background:Insomnia due to lunesta tolerance
Highly sensitive nervous system
Symptoms:Experienced rebound insomnia From lunesta
May Have adverse reactions to antihistamines, Tylenol PM, Excedrin Migraine, laxatives
Began Following meds 3 weeks ago:
Belsomra ,20 mg, Zoloft, 150 mg (2 days) hydroxyzine 50 to 75 mg every 6 hours as needed
Current symptoms: Tingling arms, restlessness, “wired awake” 0 sleep several nights, Insomnia
Dilemma: Have slept soundly 6 to 8 days consistently w Zoloft/Belsomra/hydroxyzine/ as well as not sleeping at all w those meds. I am Almost positive I have adverse reactions to antihistamines and DPH
Questions: Am I having a parodixical reaction?
Which med/meds to eliminate?

Friday night slept 5 to 7 hours taking hydroxyzine every 6 hours 50 to 75mg/Zoloft 150mg/
Saturday night 0 sleep/ Took 25 mg hydroxyzine AM /Miralax/150mg Zoloft/
Why was I able to sleep soundly 5 to 8 days and then no sleep?
What caused sleeping 7 hours to 0 hours?
Could hydroxyzine cause nervousness and sedate me to sleep?
What best option for tonight?

You can have adverse reactions to antihistamines, follow the advice below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Hydroxyzine can cause nervousness and sleepiness as an adverse reaction.
So, I agree with you that you might have an adverse reaction to antihistamines.
If you are taking Hydroxyzine for the insomnia, you can stop it for a while.
Instead, you can use valerian tea or valerian tablets.
You can also try chamomile tea 2 hours before bed.
These are herbal options that help you to treat insomnia and does not have side effects.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards!
