Brief Answer:

High hemoglobin can be due to disease state, needs to be investigated further

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Hemoglobin level of 19 gm and hematocrit of 55% is slightly higher than the normal biological interval for your age.

It is probable that you have referred to the specialist to rule out any pathological condition leading to high hemoglobin or a diseased state causing high hemoglobin.

High hemoglobin can result from physiological conditions like high altitude, smoking and secondary to fever, dehydration, vomiting, diarrhea etc.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
