Question: A few days ago, I had a bad pollen day with a never ending runny nose. That cleared up. But then I noticed my left gland in the front of my neck is swollen. It especially hurts when I chew.

Brief Answer:
May be due to tonsillitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, it may be tonsillitis. It may be caused due to allergic rhinitis.

For that I would suggest you to do saline or Betadine gargles. Lozenges will help you reduce throat irritation. Kindly follow up with a bit more information.

Please let me know do you have fever, sore throat, cough with yellow or green phlegm?

In that case for fever you can take tablet acetaminophen (Tylenol) 500 mg every 8 hourly. This medication should be available over the counter.

You may also require antibiotics like tab. Azithromycin after detailed medical examination and physician's opinion. This will help you to clear up the infection.

Along with that take hygienic food and water. Avoid allergens. Keep your self hydrated. Take proper rest. Avoid smoking if you have it.

Let me know I can assist you further... Thank you.

Regards,
Dr Shyam Kale
