What Is The Diet Plan After Colon Resection Surgery ?

My mother in law is 70 yrs old and has colon cancer . Was due for surgery on Monday but suddenly she had atrial fabrilation, probably due to the bowel cleaning. Now she is stable and going in for surgery tomorrow. I searched the net a lot to find out what should be her diet plan after the first few days at the hospital. What all indian foods she can eat and more importantly, what to avoid. Am only finding western diets. Please suggest on what can be eaten and what should be avoided. We are basically South indian and vegetarian. This is what i have for now: Avoid: vinegar, citrus fruits, raw veggies, tomatos, skim milk (more acid), corn, Check VitaminC tolerance, fried, high in sugar, gummy food like bread, Gas prod food (corn, beans, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, onions, lentils), whole grain bread\cereals Eat every 2-3 hrs ( approx. 6 times) Try: Not too ripe Banana, Skinless cooked potatoes, cooked carrots, small portions of low fat milk, soy milk

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
she can only have a soft easy to digest food .
She can try BRAT diet- bread, rice plain, applesauce, fruit pulps, baked potatoes, soup- clear, fruiot juices, etc.
Avoid milk and milk products, caffeine, junk food, too spicy food etc. You can put her on more of a semisolid diet like thin pulses, etc.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
