Infection In Vastus Lateralis. Feel Nauseous, Dizzy. Chances It Could Hit Vein Or Nerve?

Hi, I just gave myself an at home injection of vitamin b 12 in my vastus lateralis. 1 ml with a 25g 5/8 needle. It stung really bad and I felt nauseous and dizzy afterward for a few minutes. Could it have been because I was so nervous? What could be the cause for these side effects and what are the chances that if could hit a vein or nerve? I weigh 130 lbs and have good muscle tone if that helps..

Hello,

I have studied your case.
Infection can be due to inappropriate site of injection.
vastus lateralis is not best site for injection.
gluteus maximus is safest site for injection.
You may need to take antibiotic and keep area clean.
If there is abcess formation then you may need to drain it.
chances of hitting vein or nerve may be less.

Hope this helps. Wish you speedy recovery.

Take care
