Suggest Treatment For Patella Fracture

Hi, I have a patella fracture. The latest x ray report shows that the fracture line through the lower third of the patella is visible on the lateral view. Position appears satisfactory. Radiographically the fracture does not yet appear fully united. I have a Physiotherapist appointment in 2 days. Can I have physio. ore is it better to wait longer? Thank you, Regards, Angela

Hi,
Treatment of patellar fracture depends on nature of displacement either non surgical or surgical. An un displaced fracture require at least 4-6 weeks of immobilisation under cast while displaced fracture require surgical treatment followed by exercise for complete rehabilitation. As your fracture is not united fully you should consult an orthopaedician for further management.
Thank you for consulting HCM.
