Thumb Bone Injury, No Movement, Swelling. Thumb Was Put In A Cast. Treatment?

I had surgery to repair the end bone on my left thumb . It was pinned and in a cast for 6 weeks The cast came off last week and I have almost ZERO movement at the tip of my thumb and my entire thumb is very swollen. PT gave me exercises but the end joint won t bend more than about 5 degrees. Is this kind of swelling normal even after 6 weeks in a cast?
