Pus Filled Bumps. Infection?

I had a pus filled bump on my 4th ring finger that I had lanced in the ER and that turned out fine as is gone.
Now I have another one on my inner thigh filled with yellow pus. I put bacon fat on it last night to "draw" out the pus and it did do that along with some blood. My Culture aerobic identify code # was 0000. Does that tell you what the name of this bump is? Should I continue to try to draw out the pus? I would like to know what you call this particular bump. Is it a cyst? is it a pimple? what NAME to you give it? J.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
It seems to be a furuncle or boil. Boil is a bacterial infection of hair follicle. To treat the same, do warm water compresses twice in a day and apply a topical antibiotic cream like mupirocin. Warm water compresses, liquidify the content inside, helps in drainage of pus and thus hasten resolution. If it's too painful, take an oral analgesic. Usually the lesion should drain and resolve in three to four days. If it does not please consult a doctor nearby as a course of antibiotic like amoxyclav or cefopodoxime might be required.
Hope this helped.
Take care.
