Can Low Blood Pressure Cause Slurred Speech When On Diamox For Intercranial Pressure?

my daughter in law has been on diamox for intercranial pressure due to accident 6 months ago. only been taking it for 2 months. her blood pressure has been dropping to 80 or90 over 40-60. now her speech is very slurred again and she had improved until 3 days ago. could this return of symtoms be due to low pressure

Dear parent,

Thanks for the query. Indeed, with low blood pressure due to poor perfusion to the brain a variety of neurologic alterations can be seen, for example, confusion, blurry vision, loss of consciousness, altered speech, etc.

Would encourage you to provide her with fluids, and calling the prescribing neurologist to determine if the medication should be held, and if head imaging is needed.
