Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

According to your clinical symptoms i suspect that you have forwadly placed teeth, this can either be due to enlarged maxilla or mandible or both.
You require an OPG radiograph, impressions of the upper and lower jaw to determine type of treatment.
As you mentioned you are going to take a jaw surgery next year and permanent braces can be placed.
The process of grinding the teeth is medically termed as BRUXISM.
This can be due to stress, bad dreams, grinding of the teeth can be avoided by the appliance called as NIGHT GUARDS.
Treatment of bruxism is required as it causes TMJ problems, attrition of teeth, sensitivity.

Hope you find this is helpful,

Regards.

Hello,

Welcome to healthcaremagic forum.

Tooth grinding habit usually caused due to-bruxism,mouthbreathing,abnormal occlusion like crossbite, prognathic mandible.

I would advice you to get your occlusion checked by your orthodontist.

Habit breaking appliances can be inserted to prevent this.

Meanwhile, continue with your orthodontic appliances treatment.

Hope everything goes well.

Take care.

hello attia
as per your description i presume that you are having orthognathic malocllusion that is dearrangement of teeth with underlying cause being both dental and skeletal
hence you were advised for a orthodontic treatment of braces to correct the occlusion by teeth and an orthognathic surgery to correct bone position after most of the dental correction is done
now you say that you have another problem that is grinding of teeth
habit of grinding teeth is related to following
1.malocclusion (which your dentist says is not the possible cause
2.stress (persons with high blood pressure or stress levels have this )
3.gingivitis
to rule out 2 you may acess yourself or get your blood pressure checked out
as for gingivitis ----its most common in persons with malaligned teeth
for that you may visit your dentist and get an examination done and if thats the case you may need to undergo scaling and than maintain proper oral hygiene by rinsing your mouth with luke warm saline rinses after every diet
if none of the above than you may visit your psychiatrist as some time teeth grinding is a sign of some underlying pshycological trouble
hope that helps

Hello,

Welcome to healthcaremagic forum.

Grinding of teeth may be caused due to-malaligned teeth, bruxism habit, scissor bite or crossbite of teeth.

Habit breaking appliances can be placed to correct this.

If left untreated, sensitivity of teeth may result.

Use desensitising toothpaste as well as soft bristled toothbrush to clean your teeth.

Maintain oral care.

I wish you good health.
