Have Suffered From Bladder And UTI. Cystoscopy Found Cyst In Bladder. Given Premarin. Suggest?

I have suffered from bladder and UTI s for over five years now. I have been treated by by gyno, and have been told to go to a urologist . Was not happy with the urologist I went to, as he was treating me for incontinence , which was not my problem AT ALL! I have since gone to a Uro- gynocologist since September, 2012 and she performed a cystoscopy and found that I have a cist in my bladder; but overall my bladder looks good. However, I have atypical cells in my urine and in the area of the bladder. I am being treating with premarin, 1 gram, 2x a week for three months in the hope that it will take care of the inflammation that is also present. I am 62 years old. My uro-gyno doctor told me that at my next appointment in April, she will do another cystoscopy and if things haven t gotten better, then she will put me on antibiotics. I m going to ask her to do a biopsy also at that time. Do you have any other comments for me... or suggestions????

Hello and welcome to HCM.

Thank you for your query.

Having recurrent UTIs is an obvious sign of the presence of some other underlying case. I am glad the cause was found in your case. Antibiotics might be required only if there is an infection, if not, the antibiotics will not do us any good. Your doctor cannot confirm the same without proper investigation.

I reckon a biopsy would in fact be ideal in your case.

Also, in certain urinary and gynecological conditions, urinary incontinence is seen. If you indeed suffer from this, getting treated for it would do you good.
