Fungus On Hand. Cause? Treatment?

I live in Pune I had this fungal problem on my hand when I was in college, a doctor suggested Tinaderm I used it and it was cured. After 22 years it has occured again in ihe same place I cant get the medicine now. A friend of mine also had the same problem on his body his father is a doctor he suggested that he wear a vest which is freshly ironed it worked for him. What should I do now. I want to know if this is can spread to others by contact specially children & what exactly is the cause? Is it because of any vitamin deficency. Hoping to hear from you soon Thankyou Sandeep

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi Sandeep,

You must be suffering from tinea mannum. It is a superficial fungal infection.

The fungus grows in wet area. In groin area, it is due to more sweating and wetness.

Your occupation or habit needs to be changed, if you go for frequent hand wash or frequent wetting your hands.

At present you can start plain antifungal cream. Seek dermatology opinion for addition of oral antifungal treatment.
