Hi Doc.

My lab test result shows the ff:
Total Cholesterol 126

LDL 65
Potassium 4.3
SGPT 69
Triglycerides 76

I am male; 46 years old. Does not smoke and drink and has a normal body weight. My previous SGPT was only 23. What went wrong?

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Increased SGPT indicates liver injury.
Increase in SGPT may be due to many reasons like hepatitis, alcohol intake, altered lipid profile, medicines, auto immune causes etc.

You need few more investigations like random blood sugar(RBS),renal function test(RFT),GGT level, viral markers, complete liver function test, urine RE/ME,ultrasound of abdomen.

You should avoid red meat and high fat milk products.
You should avoid fried and junk food.It is good that you don't take alcohol.

Medicines should be prescribed after complete investigations.
I suggest my patients to take tablet ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg twice daily after food for three months. This help in regeneration of liver cells.

Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your question.

Take Care
