What Causes Painful Bruise In Lateral Side Of Left Foot After Running?
Good evening , wondering if I should see a podiatrist or just rest my foot... However, after a 4 mile run fri I had faint pain on the lateral side of my left foot... Sat I ran another 4 miles ignoring the pain and pushing through it thinking it was just achey.. sundAy morning a reddish bruise appeared on the same lateral side and I am unable to put any weight on that foot without it hurting ... I can walk on my tippy toe but putting it flat on the ground with any weight causes pain ...
Hi- Thanks for contacting HCM. Pain on the outer part of the foot is commonly tendonitis from a specific tendon, the Peroneus brevis. The tendon attaches into the bone on the outer part of the foot and when inflamed, can become very painful to even put weight on the area. RICE- rest/icing/compression/elevation will help as well as anti-inflammatories will help. I will usually put my patients in an immobilization boot as well to prevent any movement of this tendon for about a week. I hope this has answered your question, if you have any further questions, I will be happy to help.
