Wrist And Elbow Pain, Numbness In Forearm, Ulnar Neuritis. Had Discectomy. What Can I Expect?

I was a passenger in a rear end car accident and as a result had to have a double discectomy in C5 - 7. I also experienced excruciating pain in my right wrist and elbow. Once I had the surgery I no longer had pain in my right wrist but still had a lot of pain around my funny bone that radiated down my right forearm. At which point my 5 digit would become extremely numb. So I went to see an orthopedic surgeon and he ordered an EMG to check for ulnar neuritis. The test came back positive. The surgeon keeps saying that he doesn't think this is related to the accident but I am certain that it is given the fact that I was bracing myself by resting my arm on the arm rest and holding on tightly to the door handle when I was thrusted forward/backward. I NEVER had a problem with my right arm prior to the accident. So my question is, is there a possibility that this is related to the accident given the circumstances?
