Wound On His Leg After An Angioplasty

Why would my grandad have a wound on his leg after an angioplasty? it was his heart he had it done on so why the leg ?

to get to the heart the doctors go through the femoral artery, usually in the groin, and feed a line through the artery up through the body to the heart. The line has a balloon on the end which they inflate to widen the artery around the heart.
