Worsening Diabetic Symptoms, Bottom Lip Swollen, Painful While Urinating, Hands Swollen And Itching. On Vicoza. Is This A Cause ?
My spouse is currently experiencing many of the side affects that are listed under the drug Victoza. He is diabetic and has been taking the drug for about 3 months. I took him to an emergency room yesterday and they treated his symptoms as some type of unknown allergen. Symptoms have continued to worsen. His bottom lip is currently about triple its normal size, he has patches of hives, at times urinating is painful and his hands have also alternated in swelling and itching profusely. Is it possible for a drug to cause this type of reaction after an extended period of usage?
Hello, Allergic reactions are due to reaction of your immune system to the allergen. It is quite common to get acute allergic relation towards any medicine but the same allergic reaction can occur even after a prolonged use of the medicine. However it is not sure whether your symptoms of allergic reaction are due to use of inj.VICTOZA or something else. The best would be to stop VICTOZA and treat your allergic reactions. Once you become all right, then perform a challenge test with INJ.VICTOZA which can confirm whether your reaction was due to VICTOZA or some other thing. Thanks
