Wobbly Pouch Like Structure Pops Out From Knee Cap. Suffered Patellar Subluxation. What Does This Indicate?

Hi,

I am a 32 year old female who had a patellar subluxation when I was 18 on my right knee. Did PT for recommended time frame but knee still gives me trouble.

When I first injured it, even after PT, it would give way sending me crashing to the ground (felt like a tight band was snapping on the back of my leg when it happened). Sometimes after sitting or waking up in the morning it would lock up and I could not straighten it. It would take 10-15 minutes of massaging the back of my knee until it unlocked.

These symptoms have dissipated over the years, but what's been consistent is the wobbly feeling I get when exercising and a roaming pouch of what seems to be fluid that floats in and out from under my knee cap.

The pouch is not painful to the touch however when it's popped out, I cannot bend my knee fully and can see the pouch stretching against my skin. When this happens, i have to manipulate it back under my kneecap. There is no swelling, redness or heat when this occurs. again, no pain, but what this pouch is or why it's free roaming has never been explained to me.

It usually pops out on the upper left part of the knee cap but has also come out on the right side and lower left as well. I can push it around at will and I feel like whatever this is, it is the source of my instability. Can anyone shed light on what is going on here?
