Will Vaginal Infection Affect The Fetus During Pregnancy?

Sir, my wife age 28 & pregnancy time 8 week .she is suffering vagina infection & check pus cell 10 -15 /hpf. Will a infection affect a baby? Will a infections affect a my wife delivery. Therfore, you are requested to guide this problem at early possible under your kind control & how manage pregnancy time this problems. How can reduce of a getting a infection with treatment in pregnancy time .

hi
thank you for asking your concern. you mentioned pus cells which i assume is the urine test report. pregnancy is one of those conditions where it is must to treat urinary infection despite the absence of any urinary complaints. it prevents the spread of infection to vagina, there by to fetus or uterus and kidneys also. the thing is you need not to worry about it as it is treatable but you need to take regular followup and proper hygiene. frequent sips of water and going for urine as soon as she feels to urinate is most important. urine is good culture for bacteria so it should not remain in bladder. amoxicillin and cephalexin are the recommanded and safe drugs during preganancy to treat these infections. if your wife develops fever you need to consult urgently to your physician. generally such infection if properly controlled will not harm to baby or mother.
