Will The Hematoma With Scalp Indentation Caused By Injury Heal?

4 weeks ago I was running and slipped. I flew through the air and landed in a corner with my head. I bled for about 20-25 min, soaking my hair, and had an egg sized hematoma. I did not go to er but watched my symptoms over the next 5-7 days. dizziness, slight intermittent headache. occasional mild nausea that only came with the headache after working on computer. I have about a 2 inch indentation across my scalp where I hit the wall and it is still tender to touch. should I bother getting checked at this point or just expect for it to take a while to completely heal?

Hi there,
I am Dr. Deepak, I work in Emergency Department, where I see many patients with injury to their head. As you mentioned you had injured your head pretty hard 4 weeks back, You bled for 20-25 mins. for next 5-7 days you had dizziness with slight headache, which has subsided now.
I feel you had sustained minor injury to your head, I can say that as
1. You didn't had vomiting even though you had nausea.
2. You didn't loose consciousness.
3. You are not feeling any numbness or weakness of any one side of your body
4. You are not having any blueish discoloration around your eyes and behind the ear
5. You are not having any trouble with walking.
And the most important thing is you are pretty much okay right now.
You have also mentioned about a 2 inch indentation across your scalp which is still tender. As you already mentioned its been 4 weeks. If the indentation is healing then no need to worry about, it might take some more time depending upon the width of the indentation. You can get it checked by any of your family member or friends, if the there is any pus collection or took much red discolouration, which is painful to touch. In that case you need to see a doctor, to cure infection of the wound.
Thank you
Hope your concern was dealt with and hope you have a speedy recovery.
