Will The Femoral Stem Fit The New Ball During A Hip Replacement Surgery?
I had partial hip replacement surgery in 1998 and since the cartilage in my pelvis has worn out I will have to have the hip surgery completed. My question is, will the hole in the new ball fit the femoral stem that is already in place. If not is the only alternative the removal of the femoral stem. Thanks

Will The Femoral Stem Fit The New Ball During A Hip Replacement Surgery?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Your hip implant was done in 1998. I don t think that the new femoral stem will fit in the old ones. I would still suggest you to consult your orthopedic surgeon and get it evaluated. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Mrugank Bhavsar
