Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been using approvel to reduce my bp since 2004 till last when my doctor prescribed me coveram since bp was a bit higher than normal, and almost a year now of been using coveram I have been having diarrhea and a peripheral neuropathy where I can t use my muscles like before what should I do? Do I stop taking coveram to another medicine? Is this peripheral neuropathy a permanent damage to my whole nervous system or there is a chance for recovery? Thanks a lot for any advice, Cimo,
Hello! Thank you for asking on HCM! Regarding your concern I would explain to you that Coveram is generally safe; it comprises Perindopril and Amlodipine and it doesn't seem that your referred complains of diarrhea and neuropathy be obviously caused by that drug. Nevertheless I recommend you to refer your complains to your prescribing doctor to take a decision about the ongoing anti-hypertensive therapy. I suggest you to consult a neurologist for a comprehensive evaluation of your neurological status. Hope to have been helpful to you. greetings! Dr. Iliri
