Will A Persistent Diaper Rash In A Child Develop Into Kidney Problem?

My 15month old granddaughter has had diaper rash and a uti for 5 months. Her parents are frantic and her pedi-dr has prescribed creams and powders, taken the child completely off fruit, done the cultures, prescribed antibiotics, and I don't know what else. The child can't sleep, she doesn't eat very much. She is usually such a happy baby but this morning, she started screaming again when she urinated. The last few nights, she has been unable to sleep in her crib. Some say she will grow out of this, but my daughter is going crazy and I see why. How long will Dr.s let something like this go before the child develops kidney problems?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Greetings,
what i suggest you is to show to some nephrologist.
though its an UTI,but in children if the infected urine gets refluxed again and again then they can lead to scarring.
what needs to be done is a couple of scans to see the actual status of the urinary system and a good course of antibiotic.
complete it.
hope this helps.
regards.
