Will Risperidone And Lorazepam Leads To Chest Infection?
i was advised by the pharmacist to stop some ones medication until seen by a doctor, this person was on risperidone and lorazepam he is elderly with a dementia, the person in question was ill with a chest infection. would it cause problems for him, if as i did withhold a couple of doses ,gp stopped them afterwards
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine drug and Risperidone is an antipsychotic drug. Both of these drugs cant cause chest infections. Lorazepam can cause respiratory depression in some susceptible individuals which can complicate to chest infection in few individuals but that is not usually seen commonly. Continue to give him the doses as prescribed and there is no need to worry.
Thanks
