Hi, diafene made my stomach bleed before. The doctor today at a hospital has given me diafene now for back pain ( muscles) . also a prescription for nexium. he said the nexium will protect my stomach. , will it ? Im afraid I could have blood in my stool like a couple of years ago , but really want the back pain to go. thank you
Difene (Diclofenac sodium) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) commonly prescribed to treat moderate to severe painful conditions. Its most common side effects include vomiting, gastiritis (inflammation of the stomach), stomach ulcer or bleeding which are due to the harmful effects of stomach acid.
This stomach acid can be suppressed if certain drugs like Nexium (Esomeprazole) is taken along with Difene tablets.
Nexium will not only protect the lining of the stomach but also promote the healing of the stomach ulcers.
So, you may continue to take the prescribed medications.
Hope this answers your query.
